TGTHR hosted our first Youth Art Showcase on April 25 and what a terrific night!
Expressions was an inspiring display of creativity, community, and camaraderie in the mission to end youth homelessness! At TGTHR, we proudly work alongside youth in the creation of these events— encouraging their ideas, perspectives, and guidance on how to best share their stories.
The event included an inspiring display of artwork created by 22 young people in TGTHR housing and programming. There were paintings, drawings, pottery, jewelry, poetry, photography, short stories, and more! Accompanied with an artist statement, attendees were able to view and read thoughtful perspectives and stories from each young person.
We also celebrated TGTHR Youth Awards – which recognize young people in TGTHR programming who are working diligently towards their goals. It was an honor to celebrate Cisco, an 18-year-old who found TGTHR after leaving a hostile home, and is now a recent high school graduate, starting Job Corps, and moving into housing! We also celebrated Red, an 18-year-old who has found stable housing and is starting college at her dream school this summer!
Collectively, through donations, sponsorships, and ticket sales, we raised $40,000 to support youth facing homelessness. A special thank you to our amazing community partners & sponsors! Their belief in the mission of TGTHR and their proactive approach show their dedication to creating a brighter future for young people in our community. Thank you to all who attended and supported the event. By working together, we can continue to provide crucial resources, shelter, and supportive services to young people facing homelessness, helping them to exit homelessness and build stable & fulfilling lives.
