“Moving into my apartment at Nest56* was beyond my expectations. I definitely feel like I’ve been doing stuff here that I would never be able to do on my own. Before living here, I was staying in shelters, and it was scary because my toddler was just starting to learn how to walk and talk and I was worried about how I could work and get his needs taken care of. It was not feasible. And when we moved in here, I finally saw him relax and be able to be a kid again. And I was able to take a deep breath and be like, okay, I’m actually safe.
The sense of community here is insane. I have never met so many people that I’ve been able to relate to, it’s so nice having the staff to talk to and having access to therapists and the community groups here. I use the point store a lot. They have food, diapers, hygiene products, and household things, so it’s really nice to have on-site.
I never was able to finish college because of my situation. And so the idea of being able to actually pursue more education and create a career that I like because I have the support and time to really work up to that makes me feel so happy. I’m looking forward to working with my case managers on accomplishing my goals, taking the skills I have learned from here out into the world and helping others.” — Zoe, Tenant at Nest56
